Yaya's Tiki Masala with Halloumi (Paneer Tiki Masala)

Serves 4 portions 3-4oz portions


2 TBSP of butter

¼ cup Tomato paste

½  cup of veg stock

⅔  cup of  Cream

2 TBSP Garam masala

1 TBSP Turmeric

1 small Onion diced medium size

2 Garlic cloves crushed and minced



1 tsp red Chili pepper

1  pkg Yaya Cheese

Basmati rice or naan bread


Cut Yaya Holloumi cheese into 1in cubes . Put a medium sized pot or saucepan on the stove and set heat to medium, add butter and let it melt. Once melted add onion and garlic and cook. Add a  pinch of salt and 2-3 cracks of pepper. 

Keep cooking until onion becomes translucent. Once translucent add garam masala, Turmeric, and red chili pepper and saute till fragrant of spice is smelled. 

Once you can smell the spices add the tomato  paste and continue cooking for about 1 to 2 mins. Then add stock and scrap the bottom of the pan to deglaze. Add Cream and continue to stir. 

Bring Sauce up to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. Sauce should start to thicken in about 5-8 mins of simmering.  Add in halloumi cheese and stir. Cook for 3 mins and it is ready to serve with naan or basmati rice.

Yayas Tips:The cheese is a bit salty, so try not to add too much salt to the sauce in the beginning. Instead add a pinch in the beginning and then a small pinch in the middle. Before adding more taste the Tiki Masala sauce with the cheese and then adjust taste.
